• Over 20,000 killed in Myanmar cyclone
  Cyclone Nargis slammed through a 30,000 square kilometer coastal area of Myanmar over the weekend, leaving destruction and death in its wake. There are 21 Nazarene churches in Myanmar.
• VBS Mission Offering Project donations at work
  In 2007, the Vacation Bible School Mission Offering Project, “Tumble READ Project,” provided money to translate Bibles and other discipleship materials into the languages of kids who live in difficult-to-reach areas. In addition to this project, other VBS mission offering funds totaling $46,500 were recently distributed to meet various needs throughout the world.
• Germany districts reunite, celebrate 50 years
  In an attempt to position itself for further growth, Germany split into two districts in 1998. This year, both voted overwhelmingly to rejoin the districts and relocate the district office from Hanau to Gelnhausen, Germany.

  The following is a weekly listing of Nazarene ministers and leaders who have recently passed away. Notices were received from May 5-9, 2008.
• Christian education, youth ministry converge at Nazarene Theological Seminary
  National leadership in youth ministry gathered at Nazarene Theological Seminary April 22-23 to engage in collaborative planning. Youth Ministry professors from five Nazarene colleges and universities joined with Nazarene Youth International leadership and Nazarene Clergy Development to establish a preliminary strategy for collaboration in youth ministry education. • Eighth conference for women clergy a great success
  More than 500 women from the U.S. and 15 international destinations attended the eighth biennial Come to the Water Conference held in Nashville, Tennessee, April 10-13, sponsored by Wesleyan/Holiness Women Clergy, Inc.
• Conferences inspire Africa church leaders
  “These were two of the most significant [conferences] I have seen,” reported World Mission Director Louie E. Bustle. “People left with a changed vision, a passion for the lost, and a plan to reach them.”
• New field strategy coordinator named for Africa Central Field
  After eight years of faithful service as field strategy coordinator for the Africa Central Field, Daniel and Paulina Mokebe plan to retire in October of 2008. Paul Mtambo, an active member in the Africa Church of the Nazarene, will take his place.
• KNU hosts Gift of Hope ceremony
  Korea Nazarene University hosted a musical celebration for the 49th and 50th homes selected by the Gift of Hope charity program at the school’s Patch Hall on March 25. Gift of Hope is a compassionate charity organization that remodels the homes of disabled persons to make them more handicap accessible. (Slideshow)
